BBC Radio4 Simon Cox: Polish workers in the UK – What if all the Poles went home?

April 30, 2008

About a month ago BBC Radio4 The Investigation run discussion on Poles in the UK.

Some conclusions were published (and signed by Simon Cox) here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7316261.stm

Danny Sriskandarajah says:

That tap of Polish workers is going to run dry. And I fear that policymakers haven’t quite grasped the immense challenge that might bring because if the Poles don’t do the jobs, who will?

and a few lines down…

Campaigner Andrew Green of Migration Watch thinks we overestimate how beneficial the Poles have been. He says they have been good for business but not our economy as a whole.

and the Andrew Green campaigner and Sir Andrew Green, the Diplomat are actually the same person…

BBC: “How Eastern Europeans have spread across UK” (like a bird-flu)

April 30, 2008

It is becomes a tradition that BBC gives us some “food for thoughtless” with usual target, the Poles!

In the unsigned article published here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7373552.stm

BBC is alarming that

EU migrants ’settling across UK’

We even have maps helping illiterate little Englanders to learn “how Eastern Europeans have spread across UK“… like if it was bird-flu, or something?!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7370955.stm

Funny thing is that source of the data, the Institute of Public Policy Research on their own website states that

“Half of migrants
from new EU countries
have now left UK”

http://www.ippr.org/pressreleases/?id=3123

So, I cannot quite work it out…

Are they settling, or have they left?

The Independent – Poles in the UK are under attack. It’s got to stop

April 28, 2008

I was about to comment this article when I turned the TV on.

Warsaw Muppet Show – Polish are being idiots (at least according to mother-fucking British Broadcasting Corporation)

April 28, 2008

Motherfucking British Broadcasting Corporation (aka BBC) is benefiting on my thoughtlessness and fact that I am still stupidly paying my TV licenseunlike some much smarter chaps.

So, BBC really knows how to wind me up from the very first moment that I turn my TV on (or shall I rather say “telly“?).

Waking the Dead” a BBC’s production in brief is a rather poor-man’s forensic-ish evening drama where the only thing worth to mention is quite wise camera work.

In the episode being aired today – still, as I am blogging [28/04/2008] – two Police officers are asking workshop employees questions… then we hear a voice from off saying:

“don’t bother, they are Polish, they won’t understand…”.

Here we go again! Then in the course of the conversation the character continues his ethnically-biased shit-talk by saying:

“Sorry guys, I need to go back to run this Warsaw Muppet Show”.

Whoever is the cunt that wrote the script… this is a bit too far, don’t you think?

I must be really a stupid Pole, for I am not really conspiring with my mates on how to blow up the London Tube

Also, instead of putting a few pounds of fertilizer into my backpack and get on the train I only have my laptop on me (and the ticket) while commuting…

What seems to be more important here…

I am Polish and I am fed up with BBC’s biased documentaries and now Poles appear as synonyms of the illiteracy and communication problems in mass culture. Of course some people may call me a bigot, some other would say I should not pay any attention to it

This ethnically biased labelling Poles as ultimate idiots must stop now. Full stop.

If you are Polish and you want to complain you can send them an email or post your comment.
Alternativelly you can send email directly at: pov@bbc.co.uk

Report proved that immigration is indeed a vital factor contributing to the UK’s economic success

April 25, 2008

Yesterday [24 April 2008] The Work Foundation has published report:

Migration Myths: Employment, Wages and Labour Market Performance

Mostly in favor of my views on migrants and their role in the modern UK economy.

You can download your PDF copy here.

So, again… it’s the economy stupid, not your xenophobia to decide, what’s good and what’s not…

Please Pole, have you head out of your arse for a minute! (but take your time and do it slowly)

April 19, 2008

I fully agree it is nice, cosy and warm and for some people must be even exciting to keep you head in your own anus. I surely appreciate agility required to do so, especially among Poles, for we have never had tradition of a fakir.

Never the less, please, all the Poles reading this blog and posting critic remarks, or trying to get me into dying multikulti world (however, somehow never for Polish people, or other of the EU orgin) – please have you head out of your arse and face the facts.

When I first came to the UK I knew this country’s history and culture much better than it is required to be naturalized British.

Being engineer myself (oh yes, I lied a bit, I am not really a field hand) I brought with me my admiration to generations of creative Brits like Robert Stevenson, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Reginald Joseph Mitchell, or chaps from ORL in Cambridge – just to mention a few.

I loved them for their dare and determination to fight against the odds and making things happen.

And there was the whole British literature…

Like most of educated Poles I was (and still I am with exception of stupid spelling) an Anglophile… however, living and working in the UK is getting though now.

Almost every day day brings a headline about “them Poles” doing this or that.
And believe me that in 99% of cases image the media create is not helping us to integrate, sometimes it is not even true…

The “Happy Fieldhand” blog is written from perspective of a person living and working in England, reading UK newspapers and enjoying benefits of my TV tax paid ;-) which means watching local TV as well.

How come that all you politically-correct-and-so-disgusted-with-this-blog know better… actually living outside the UK what is really going on here?

This blog tells you that, I agree from a bit pro-Polish angle – the message however is not only to you, but also to all the local UK xenophobic pricks.

In less than two years first wave of loyal British citizens and subjects to the Queen’s majesty of Polish origin will rise and there is more to come…

In a generation or two you will witness a boost of Poles on local universities. Poles already contribute a lot to the local economy. Hardly speaking English 40-50 years old are being assed by temp job agencies and kept temp workers at the same production plant for 3+ years… a second class people? Maybe now, but they will breed first class at some point – wait a bit and see it coming.

We, the first generation immigrants might be just a humus for next generations to come, but we the Poles have patience and good memory. And we are not going anywhere.

In the meantime I am going to point out cases of abuse and hatred towards Poles and only my professional commitments may slow me down a bit sometimes.

That I can promise, for that’s my mission with this blog.

Eastern Europe immigrants. No rise in crime since we are here.

April 16, 2008

According to official survey that Guardian reports today that

“despite some alarmist headlines, the offending rates among mainly Polish (…) are in line with the rest of the population”

Original REUTERS story here

OK, now what about the asylum seekers? I would be keen to see the full report because I still have impression that UK media tend to mix-up people, citizens of other European countries coming here to work  with illegal immigrants – which by itself is a crime.

Rise of racism and xenophobia…

April 15, 2008

Looks like it’s not only my concern.

http://maryportagainstracism.wordpress.com

I believe it’s a good sign.

Polish government reports 3.1 bln PLN budget surplus (what would you do if we come back home)?

April 15, 2008

This may be something or nothing, but according to Polish Deputy Finance Minister, Mrs. Elzbieta Suchocka government in Poland is 3.1 bln PLN long this month.

Also public sector borrowing needs for 2008 would be several billion lower than the 44.6 billion PLN estimated last year – and the original 44.6 bln PLN is approx. 10 bln GBP.

I come to think that all the xenophobic and hostile approach towards Poles may not pay in the long run.

Constantly falling GBP rates and stupid, alarmist pre-election politic jabber are not creating a good climate to consider UK as a place to stay.

What would you do if we actually leave as some of you want us to do?

Don’t be afraid. I am just kidding.

We are not going anywhere :-)

I just tried to have you get your head out of you anus and see your options, of which UK work permits for asylum seekers are most appealing ;-)

Fascism and hooliganism are parts of British (football) heritage

April 13, 2008

Beauty is in the eye of beholder, same is the guilt of hooliganism and fascism.

I fully understand that BBC and subsequently Mihir Bose is blind on one eye and only looks abroad for cases of racial abuse. Reporting such cases in England alone would take too long. Besides people know that already, so what news would that be?

British football supporters are know world-wide.

Thanks to events like such as Heysel.

Unfortunately this tragedy was not some isolated and “one off” mistake, though British and especially BBC tends ignore local problems and loves presenting “facts” about Poland and other countries…

This is coverage of what happened in Ireland on 15/02/1995, ten years after Heysel.

Even nazi salute is linked to violent and vicious British football fans.

Please give it a thought before pissing on Polish again… look for the skeletons in your own closet.
